Ode to a Bath
by Lanae Rivers-Woods
Smooth flirtatious water … ripple
You move in sultry slowness
Soft sloshes seductively sigh my name
Your wet embrace slides smoothly up my sensitive skin
I have yearned for you … dreamt of you
Desired your elements to immerse me
To sink into my every pore and rebuild my road-weary epidermis
Forever I have craved you
Waited to breath you into my lungs
To be a part of your sensual, spiritual domain
In your darkest depths I long to roam in fearless freedom
I long to be in you … part of you
This I am denied unto death
For now you are only a siren’s call I resist
I have no permanent place below your sparkling, shimmering surface
My fate is to lust after you … to take only what I can
A brief, yet timeless, moment in a porcelain tub
A place where you can touch every inch of me, caress me, lap at my toes
In this shell I confine you … control you
You’re safe and undaunting
Here I can surrender to you and the power you have over my soul
So touch me, caress me, move in rhythmic motions against my face
Let me move, let me rest, let me be part of you
For this moment let me be … liquid.
