Snapshot: Sunny Monroe
by Sunny Monroe
Where do you get your news?
From National Public Radio on KUOW, The Stranger,
Salon.com, and my husband.
What's your order in a coffee shop?
Double-short 1% latte with half an Equal at Diva on Greenwood. High maintenance, I know,
but if you're going to pay $3 for a drink, you should get exactly what you want.
If you knew you could not fail, what would you do?
The creative me would finish and produce my shelved screenplay. The lazy me would buy a
lottery ticket.
Where is the most bizarre place you have visited?
The Potala in
Lhasa, Tibet, with my father in spring of 1991. Sacred paradise on the high desert.
How did you learn about Writergrrls?
I found a mention of it on the bust.com
lounge while I was looking for something more interesting to do with my life.
Which famous or historic figure would you like to have
coffee with?
Jocelyn Elders. We need to start working on getting her back in the surgeon general's chair.
What are you currently reading?
Kerouac: A Biography by Ann Charters, bought on a whim at the
delightful Epilogue Books.
Also Cunt, by Inga Muscio.
What's your favorite book this week?
The Mary Karr memoirs, The Liar's Club and Cherry. It amazes me what this
woman can do with the simple facts of her life.
What's your best quality?
My ability to talk and listen.
What would you change about yourself?
I think I laugh a little too hard at my own jokes. But, then again, laughter keeps me
young.
Sunny Monroe is an ex-techie who's entering her thirties and her second
career as a freelance editor.
